BNSF Dispatcher Trainee Practice Exam 2026 – Complete Study Guide

When "STOP" is noted in the Stop column, the train must wait for instruction from the employee in charge. This requirement ensures that safety protocols are followed and that the train does not proceed until it has received clear and appropriate directions. The "STOP" indication effectively signals that there could be potential hazards or important changes in operational procedures that need to be communicated before the train can move forward.

In the context of railway operations, adhering to instructions from the employee in charge is critical to maintaining safety, preventing accidents, and ensuring that all trains are operating within established protocols. Compliance with the stop signal allows for the assessment of the situation and the provision of necessary information to the train crew, which might include updates on track conditions, signals, or other operational factors that could affect safe travel.
